1950s ~ LONGWY EMAUX French Vintage Ironstone Hand-Painted Hanging Decorative Plate ~ Decor of M.P. Chevallier

1950s ~ LONGWY EMAUX French Vintage Ironstone Hand-Painted Hanging Decorative Plate ~ Decor of M.P. Chevallier

Low stock: 1 left

Exquisite Collectible French Vintage High Glazed Ceramic EMAUX hanging Plate made by well-known faience factory of Longwy, in France, during the timeframe of 1951-1962. The model is called “Renaissance” and was designed by M.P. Chevallier (Maurice Paul Chevallier).

Stamped on the back side “F3905 GM - Decore a la main - Made in France - Emaux de Longwy – Renaissance – Decor de M.Chevallier. There is also a hole and wire so it could be hung on the wall for decorative purposes.

The French Faiencerie "Emaux de Longwy" company was founded in 1798. In 1816, Longwy was sold to jean Antoine de Nothomb whose wife was Catherine Boch, daughter of Pierre Boch, hence a lot of likeliness exists between these 2 factories. Based on my research of the stamp on the bottom, this piece dates to the early 1900s

--- Additional Notes ---

**Special Note about aged Porcelain**
If you are not accustomed to this ‘look’, google crazing and the aging process of porcelain. The Japanese use crazing to add an artistic look to their pieces whereas antiques go through the natural aging process. Crazing is cracking in the surface of the plate due to use sometimes it's even and is called the crackle look and other times it is random.
