1800s ~ "Ste Fleuri" Jules Vieillard (J.V.) & Cie ~ French Antique Ironstone Polychrome Vegetable Dish "Légumière" ~ Terre de Fer

Lovely Rustic French Antique Ironstone Polychrome Covered Serving Piece, Casserole Dish, Vegetable Dish, Soup Tureen and "Soupiere" or "Légumière" in French.  This model pattern is called "FLEURI" Service.   Made by famous French manufacturer of Earthware Faiencerie J.V & Cie JULES VIEILLARD, in Terre de Fer, circa mid to late 1800s in Bordeaux, France.   Stamped "J.V. Bx  Ste Fleuri Terre de Fer". 

Jules way of business is crucial to the industrial successes of the plant in Bacalan, Bordeaux and he was applauded for the artistic quality of his products which were frequently called 'Vieillard' pottery. The commercial success of Vieillard earthenware is substantial, and comparable to the pottery factories of Creil-Montereau.

--- Condition ---

In lovely rustic vintage condition. Given the age and heavy usage, there are lovely imperfections and decorative blemishes such as some pattern bleeding, ink marks/ fading in certain areas on the surface, manufacturing marks and surface spots, manufacturing /glazing marks on the surface, there are areas around the edges of wearing down of the protection glaze or tiny marks where there is no varnish (surface not smooth), areas of surface crazing and areas of discoloration and there is 1 area where there is a tiny chip in the varnish with a small line that blends with the surface crazing as shown in the photos and collages. Please ask me if you are unsure. PLEASE use ZOOM to review closely the detail and condition of the plates.

**Special Note about aged Porcelain**
If you are not accustomed to this ‘look’, google crazing and the aging process of porcelain. The Japanese use crazing to add an artistic look to their pieces whereas antiques go through the natural aging process. Crazing is cracking in the surface of the plate due to use sometimes it's even and is called the crackle look and other times it is random.

These items are old, were used and were manufactured at a time when processes were less under control as today. Therefore, in addition to the defects identified and reported in the ad, slight dimensional differences or deviations in the color or in the decoration between the different parts could be noted. Besides, some little marks or small manufacturing imperfections such as minor defects in the glaze or in the varnish etc., may also be observed.
