Lovely French vintage antique transferware Soup Tureen (Soupiere). The model is called 'Anglais' and made by famous French manufacturer of Earthware 'L(Leon) Bertrand', in Terre de Fer. Made in Bordeaux in the Bacalone area.
The ivory cream ceramic is decorated by warm dark green transfer, with a floral decor (flowers of the apple tree combine with lacey fern fronds) around the edge of the plates. Stamped or marked: « Anglais ~ L. Bertrand - Bordeaux» .
PLEASE NOTE: This listing is the piece for all the pieces shown in the photos. There are 2 bottom pieces and 1 cover. I have a 2nd cover but there is a chip on the edge so I didn't include it but can for free if you want it.
--- Condition ---
In rustic vintage condition due to the age. They are overall in rustic vintage condition due to the age. There are certainly signs of usage and they all have many manufacturing imperfections such as heavy manufacturing/glazing marks on the surface, very visible pattern fading/bleeding in areas (surface not smooth), utensil marks/scratches on the surface, there are areas around the edges of wearing down of the protection glaze or tiny marks where there is no varnish (surface not smooth), surface crazing/age crackle, there are various areas of discoloration from usage especially on the flat edges & handles and there is a tiny chip in the green varnish on the outside edge of the cover as shown in the Photos. If you are unclear please ask me. Please also use ZOOM to view the details of each photo especially the photo collages.

**Special Note about aged Porcelain**
If you are not accustomed to this ‘look’, google crazing and the aging process of porcelain. The Japanese use crazing to add an artistic look to their pieces whereas antiques go through the natural aging process. Crazing is cracking in the surface of the plate due to use sometimes it's even and is called the crackle look and other times it is random.
These items are old and were manufactured and used in a time period when processes were not as sophistication, mechanical or controlled as they are today. Therefore, in addition to the defects identified and documented in my listing, there are slight dimensional differences/deviations in the color/decoration between the different patterns and some little marks or small manufacturing imperfections such as minor defects in the glaze or in the varnish. Each plate is not identically the same which to me is art and shows it's history.
