This is a Lovely antique French grain measuring bucket/bin/pot which dates back to the late 1800s/ Early 1900s and is stamped 'Double Decalitre' on the front surface.
It was used in its time to measure and transport grains and pulses as it has a convenient metal handle hidden on the top surface of the bucket. It is made of metal and "black iron" and is simply "bordered" when the metal protects it's edges and sides.
This piece has been wonderfully aged, has rich patina to the wood and iron and I think it would be a lovely decoration as is or can be used for home storage for dried goods. I have also seen it used in offices as a recycled paper recipient. Use your imagination as it's great for your unique interior design needs. It has lots of charm!!
French Terms = "Mesure à grains ancienne".
--- Condition ---
In rustic vintage condition. As this item is antique and more than 100 years old, there are signs of aging such as distressed marks/dents/chips and wear on the surface. You can also that the painted front is faded so it lettering is faded but can still be read. It's a sturdy, solid piece and can be used.
It has been cleaned with nature products to help remove some of the surface rust and dust but there is still some clean rust and oxidation which I believe gives the piece it's charm and beauty.
