1880s/1900s ~ "FLORE" Sarreguemines U&C ~ French Antique Ironstone Blue Transferware Serving Plate ~ Scalloped Edge Terre de Fer

Lovely French Antique Ironstone Blue Transferware Vintage Round Serving Plate "Assiette" in French.   The series is called 'FLORE' which translates to flora in English and made by famous French manufacturer of Earthware (Faienceries) 'Sarreguemines' France, in Terre de Fer.  Stamped : « FLORE - U&C Sarreguemines ».

The Faienceries Sarreguemines and Utzschneider & CIE - dates back to the early 1800s when J.Faby and Paul Utzchneider took over the factories from Nicolas Jacobi. The mark was produced between the time frame of 1871 to 1913 at which time the U & Cie factories split off into 2 different factories producing other labels.

The white ceramic is ornate, by blue transfer, with a romantic decor in blue shades, composed of a bunch of flowers, tied with a ribbon of leaves and vines.

In lovely vintage condition. As this item is antique and more than 100 years old, there are signs of aging such as minor pattern fading/bleeding, tiny manufacturing/glazing marks on the surface, utensil marks/scratches on the surface, there are areas around the edges of wearing down of the protection glaze or spots (surface not smooth), visible surface crazing and discoloration spots and 1 soup plate has a chip on the back corner of the soup plate n#2 (not visible from the front) as shown in the photos. However I believe that these decorative blemishes tell a story and just gives the plates more charm and character. Please ask me if you are unsure. I have more photos upon request. **Special Note about aged Porcelain**
If you are not accustomed to this ‘look’, google crazing and the aging process of porcelain. The Japanese use crazing to add an artistic look to their pieces whereas antiques go through the natural aging process. Crazing is cracking in the surface of the plate due to use sometimes it's even and is called the crackle look and other times it is random. 

These items are old, were used and were manufactured at a time when processes were less under control as today. Therefore, in addition to the defects identified and reported in the ad, slight dimensional differences or deviations in the color or in the decoration between the different parts could be noted. Besides, some little marks or small manufacturing imperfections such as minor defects in the glaze or in the varnish etc., may also be observed.
