1880s/1900s ~ "RECAMIER" U&C Sarreguemines & Digoin ~ French Antique Ironstone Blue Transferware Asparagus Plate ~ Terre de Fer

Low stock: 2 left

Lovely French Antique Ironstone Blue Transferware Vintage Asparagus Plate "Assiette a Asperge" in French. It can also be used for Artichokes. The series is called "Recamier" and was made by famous French manufacturer of Earthware Faience "U&C Sarreguemines & Digoin" France, in Terre de Fer.   This is also stamped : « Recamier - U&C Sarreguemines & Digoin ».

The Faienceries Sarreguemines and Utzschneider & CIE - dates back to the early 1800s when J.Faby and Paul Utzchneider took over the factories from Nicolas Jacobi. The mark was produced between the time frame of 1871 to 1913 at which time the U & Cie factories split off into 2 different factories producing other labels.

The white ivory ceramic is decorated, by marine blue transfer, with a romantic decor composed of a bunch of flowers, tied with a ribbon of leaves and vines. These remind me of the Marie Louise Moulin du Loups pattern and would compliment them well. There is a well/recessed areas for dipping sauces (butter, hollandaise, vinegar, etc). There is a lovely relief design with stamped stemmed flowers above the recessed area.

PLEASE NOTE: I have 2 Plates in Total but this listing price is for ONE 1 Plate. The listing is programmed to allow you to select a quantity you wish purchase.

--- Condition ---

They are in good vintage condition due to the age however there are certainly signs of usage and lovely imperfections such as some pattern bleeding/fading in certain spots, subtle utensil marks in the surface, manufacturing marks and surface bumps from the glazing process and they all have signs of crazing with some discoloration on the surface in certain areas as shown in the photos (refer to the collage). Please take a look at the photos closely and use ZOOM for details on the plate especially the photo collages. If you are not sure, please ask me questions about the condition of the plates and request more photos.

**Special Note about aged Porcelain**
If you are not accustomed to this ‘look’, google crazing and the aging process of porcelain. The Japanese use crazing to add an artistic look to their pieces whereas antiques go through the natural aging process. Crazing is cracking in the surface of the plate due to use sometimes it's even and is called the crackle look and other times it is random.

These items are old, were used and were manufactured at a time when processes were less under control as today. Therefore, in addition to the defects identified and reported in the ad, slight dimensional differences or deviations in the color or in the decoration between the different parts could be noted. Besides, some little marks or small manufacturing imperfections such as minor defects in the glaze or in the varnish etc., may also be observed.
