1890/1900s ~ "EGLANTINE" L'EPARGNE TOULOUSE ~ French Antique Ironstone Blue Transferware Soup Tureen "Soupiere" ~ Terre de Fer

Lovely French Vintage Antique Ironstone Green Transferware ("Faience" in French) Covered Serving Piece, Soup Tureen, Vegetable Dish and "Soupiere" or "Légumière" in French. The lovely model series is called "EGLAINTINE".  It was made by famous French manufacturer of Earthware (Faiencerie "L'EPARGNE TOULOUSE EGLANTINE" France, in Terre de Fer.  Stamped on the bottom surface.

--- Condition ---

In rustic vintage condition. Given the age and heavy usage there is some pattern bleeding/ fading/ ink spots in certain areas on the surface, manufacturing /glazing marks on the surface, there are areas around the edges of wearing down of the protection glaze or tiny marks where there is no varnish (surface not smooth), more visible surface crazing and discoloration especially on the cover and there is a visible chip on the front cover edge as shown in the photos and collages.   Please ask me if you are unsure. PLEASE use ZOOM to review closely the detail and condition of the plates. 

Important Note about condition of this item:   The lower price reflects the blemishes and the body of the piece has no visible chips so it can be used as a serving bowl with handles if you choose to disgard the cover if you don't like the blemished area or it can be used as a replacement piece if you have just the cover.    

**Special Note about aged Porcelain**
If you are not accustomed to this ‘look’, google crazing and the aging process of porcelain. The Japanese use crazing to add an artistic look to their pieces whereas antiques go through the natural aging process. Crazing is cracking in the surface of the plate due to use sometimes it's even and is called the crackle look and other times it is random.

These items are old, were used and were manufactured at a time when processes were less under control as today. Therefore, in addition to the defects identified and reported in the ad, slight dimensional differences or deviations in the color or in the decoration between the different parts could be noted. Besides, some little marks or small manufacturing imperfections such as minor defects in the glaze or in the varnish etc., may also be observed.
