This lovely rustic French antique wooden clamp, screw press, joinery tool, old carpenter's tool, woodworking device, C clamp, vice, etc. is a rustic tool from the early 20th century used in the making of large wooden items like barn doors, stables and other French farm house items.
This large clamp is a hand made tool made from solid wood. There are 2 pieces, the rectangle C shaped clamp, which is made of 3 pieces fastened together with a metal bar screw and bolt. The screw is one piece of wood, with carved octagonal sided handle and machine carved screw thread.
It is perfect for any home decor environment for display or as a rustic book end as shown in the photos or use your imagination. It would also look lovely in any restaurant, coffee shop, or could be a great gift with a history behind it for someone special.
--- Condition ---
In lovely distressed vintage condition. As this item is antique and more than 100 years old, there are signs of aging, small marks in the wood, tiny holes, uneven coloring in wood (fading) and some areas of cosmetic wood splitting however I believe this is what gives the piece it's charm and beauty. The screw rotates well but may need a little muscle in certain areas. Please take a look at photos and use ZOOM to review the detail of the photos. Please ask if you are unsure.
