Lovely French Antique Ironstone Hand-painted Vintage Flat Edge Hollow Soup Plate "Assiette Creuse" in French. The model is called "Colmar".  Made by famous French manufacturer of Earthware (Faïenceries) "Sarreguemines U&Cie" France, in Terre de Fer.  Stamped "Dec. Colmar - Sarreguemines - France".

This model name is the name of the largest commune in the French Alsace Region in north-eastern France and known for Art Faience.  Based on my research of the stamp on the back of the plate, this model was manufacturer in the 1920s timeframe.

The colors are beautiful in creamware and red trim decorated with a 'floral motifs' in pretty red and yellow flowers with green and Teal leaves. There are 2 in a same pattern with different colored of highlighted flowers are in a yellowish orange and marron red.

PLEASE NOTE: I have 6 Plates in Total but this listing is for ONE plate. The listing is programmed to allow you to select the N plate you wish to purchase.

I also have other listings in this pattern sold separately. Refer to my shop page at link below and search "COLMAR".

--- Condition ---

They are overall in good vintage condition due to the age. There are certainly signs of usage such as some pattern bleeding (bleeding smudges in the painted flowers), manufacturing blemishes causing the surface to not be fully smooth, surface scratches from utensils marks, surface crazing in areas, tiny varnish chips or browning corners of the plate that look like wearing down of the protection glaze and more by plate below:

Soup Plate N 3 & 6 - There are no chips, cracks or surface crazing.
Soup Plate N 4 - There is a small chip in the varnish on the front red edge of the plate.
Soup Plate N 5 - There is a manufacturing mark on the back edge of the plate.

All blemish visible in the photos and collages. Please take a look at the photos closely and use ZOOM for detail.

**Special Note about aged Porcelain**
If you are not accustomed to this ‘look’, google crazing and the aging process of porcelain. The Japanese use crazing to add an artistic look to their pieces whereas antiques go through the natural aging process. Crazing is cracking in the surface of the plate due to use sometimes it's even and is called the crackle look and other times it is random.

These items are old, were used and were manufactured at a time when processes were less under control as today. Therefore, in addition to the defects identified and reported in the ad, slight dimensional differences or deviations in the color or in the decoration between the different parts could be noted. Besides, some little marks or small manufacturing imperfections such as minor defects in the glaze or in the varnish etc., may also be observed.
