1920s ~ "FLEURS DES CHAMPS" VILLEROY & BOCH ~ French German Antique Hand-Painted Ironstone Serving Bowl ~ Terre de fer

Lovely Rustic French Antique Ironstone Porcelain Serving Bowl. The model is called ' Fleurs Des Champs ' which translates to wildflowers in English. Made by famous German French manufacturer of Earthware Faïence "Villeroy & Boch" in Terre de Fer.  Based on my research of the stamp, this model was probably produced in the early 1900s.

The cream/beige/ivory ceramic ironstone is hand-painted with lovely flower blossoms, groupings of a red poppy, white daisies, bluebells, buttercups and dark blue cornflowers, the national flower of Germany. The colors are impressive and vivid.

--- Condition ---

In lovely rustic vintage condition given the age. As this piece has had a previous life, there are signs of age and usage such as pattern bleeding and fading in certain spots, manufacturing marks and surface marks/ bumps from the glazing process, there are areas around the edges of wearing down of the protection glaze or tiny marks where there is no varnish (surface not smooth), utensil marks in the surface, there is surface crazing, some have areas of discoloration more visible on the lid of the condiment bowl and the milk pitcher as a small chip under the pourer as shown in the photos. Please ask me if you are unsure. PLEASE use ZOOM to review closely the detail and condition of the plates especially the photo collages.

**Special Note about aged Porcelain**
If you are not accustomed to this ‘look’, google crazing and the aging process of porcelain. The Japanese use crazing to add an artistic look to their pieces whereas antiques go through the natural aging process. Crazing is cracking in the surface of the plate due to use sometimes it's even and is called the crackle look and other times it is random.

I ship using Colissimo (La Poste International service) which includes tracking. minimum insurance and estimated delivery dates (which is normally faster than the processing times in my policy section).
