Lovely rustic brown French Vintage terracotta Stoneware Earthware French pottery ceramics/glazed sandstone/old sandstone round flat water jug pitcher with small handle. This piece is unique as I haven't seen many of them made and I have seen them advertised as antique foot warmer, bed warmer, hot water bottle. I think it was probably used to refill bed or foot warmers itself and not to warm the feet or bed.
There is a 1 stamped on the side which means it's probably 1 of a series and made in different sizes. The number represents the volume of the jug pitcher.

In lovely vintage condition given it's age. Due to the age and that it was hand made there are many imperfections such as marks of usage, age marks in the varnish and manufacturing marks blemishes spots from the glazing process, lovely age crackle crazing from other firing process, marks variations in the brown color surface with patina and areas where there are chips in the varnish from usage which really adds to it's charm and shows it's history and age. All the decorative blemishes are shown in the photos, please use ZOOM to see with more precision.
These items are old, were used and were manufactured at a time when processes were less under control as today. Therefore, in addition to the defects identified and reported in the ad, slight dimensional differences or deviations in the color or in the decoration between the different parts could be noted. Besides, some little marks or small manufacturing imperfections such as minor defects in the glaze or in the varnish etc., may also be observed.
