1950s ~ ALSACE SOUFFLENHEIM ~ French Vintage Glazed Ceramic Stoneware Gratin Pot Casserole Dish ~ Terra Cotta ~ Terre Cuite

Charming rustic French Vintage glazed terracotta/sandstone/enameled stoneware gratin fondue pot with handle and pourer. In French this is called "Poelons en terre cuites vernissée" This pattern is typically ALSACE SOUFFLENHEIM and is signed by the artist "P.IAIR N#5".   

This beige exterior orange interior stoneware piece is decorated with a traditional floral arrangement.   Ii was used back in the day for cooked items that need to be melted like fondue and is also called a caquelon. The glazed ceramic pot with thick handle, squat, broad shape and handle with hole in the center is designed so that the bottom and sides heat evenly, which helps prevent the cheese from scorching. 

This can be used for cooking or use your imagination as it's great for your unique interior design needs. It has lots of charm!!

--- Condition ---

In rustic used vintage condition.  There signs of usage and age such as surface scratches utensil marks, manufacturing spots from the glazing process, wear in the varnish around all the edges, age crackle crazing from other firing process, there is chipping around the edges of the handle and the edges of the pourer as shown in the photos, please use ZOOM to see with more precision.

Special Note about aged Porcelain:
If you are not accustomed to this ‘look’, google crazing and the aging process of porcelain. The Japanese use crazing to add an artistic look to their pieces whereas antiques go through the natural aging process.

I ship all my products using the French Postal Service (La Poste). For larger items. I ship using Colissimo (La Poste International service) which includes tracking. minimum insurance and estimated delivery dates (which is normally faster than the processing times in my policy section). If you want additional information about insurance or tracking for smaller items. please contact me for details on the supplemental change. 

If you live France. Belgium. Luxembourg. Spain. Italy. Great Britain. Portugal. Germany and Austria. I can use Mondial Relay to reduce the shipping charge. If you prefer this option. please contact me for new shipping price quote.

I am also willing to use Happy Post upon request and where ship location is offered in their service plan.  

All items are shipped from France to all over the world and I welcome multiple orders to consolidate shipments to help reduce shipping fees. where possible.

To be economically responsible and not charge handling fees. when available. I pack very carefully. especially fragile items. but I do check to make sure I'm using the most cost-efficient method.
