French Vintage Collectible Glazed Stoneware Terracotta Fondue pot Gratin pan with side handle. “Caquelon” or "Alsacien Poëlon Terre Cuites Vernissée Emaillée" in French.  Motif is called “Marguerite” decorated with daisies and green foliage and made famous by the Earthenware “Poterie” town of SOUFFLENHEIM, ALSACE France region.

This traditional salt glazed sandstone is used to cook items that need to be melted like fondue or a gratin dish.  The thick handle, broad shape and hole in the center was designed so the bottom and side surfaces heat evenly, which helps prevents the cheese from over cooking.  This can be used for cooking or use your imagination as it's great for your unique interior design needs. It has lots of charm!!

PLEASE NOTE: I have 4 pots in Total but this listing is for ONE 1 Plate. The listing is programmed to allow you to select a quantity you wish to purchase.

I have other pieces from this region in a similar patterns at the collection link below:

These items are old, were previously used and were manufactured at a time when processes were less under control as today. Therefore, in addition to the defects identified and reported in the listing, slight dimensional differences or deviations in the color or in the decoration between the different parts could be noted. **Special Note about aged Porcelain**
If you are not accustomed to this ‘look’, google crazing and the aging process of porcelain. The Japanese use crazing to add an artistic look to their pieces whereas antiques go through the natural aging process. Crazing is cracking in the surface of the plate due to use sometimes it's even and is called the crackle look and other times it is random.

I also welcome special requests that I can keep in mind when sourcing for my shop!
