Lovely French Vintage Oval Foie Gras Terrine with cover shaped like a duck "canard" in French. This glazed Stoneware TerraCotta Pate Terrine (Tureen)/Rustic Casserole Pot Tureen with Lid was used to prepare the duck or goose liver in the oven in pots of different sizes depending on how many you are serving. In France, the paté of choice is its famous 'Foie Gras', made from goose livers. There is a little hole in the cover on the top to let the steam out. It can also be used to preserve and cook other meats. Cooking in Stoneware gives a softness and more flavor to dishes.
Stamped on bottom "FRANCE".
