French Vintage glazed large stoneware/terracotta/sandstone/enameled stoneware gratin fondue pot with handle and pourer in the style of Vallauris (not stamped with the name of this maker). In French this is called "Poelons en terre cuites vernissée" . It is stamped with numbers 34/4.

The traditional salt glazed sandstone is used to cook items that need to be melted liek fondue or a gratin dish.   The thick handle, broad shape and hole in the center was designed so the bottom and side surfaces heat evenly, which helps prevents the cheese from over cooking. The patina of the green stoneware has a blend of shades of green and is a lovely piece of art in my opinion.

This can be used for cooking or use your imagination as it's great for your unique interior design needs. It has lots of charm!!

In lovely vintage condition given it's age. There are marks of usage, age marks in the varnish and manufacturing spots from the glazing process and lovely age crackle crazing from other firing process, the green color has some color contrast in the patina which really adds to it's charm, the bottom of the pot shows signed of being on the fire for cooking and there are 3-4 tiny chips in the green varnish (pourer and edges) when you can see the original fired stone. All the decorative blemishes are shown in the photos, please use ZOOM to see with more precision.

Therefore, in addition to the defects identified and reported in the listing, slight dimensional differences or deviations in the color or in the decoration between the different parts could be noted. Besides, some little marks or small manufacturing imperfections such as minor defects in the glaze or in the varnish etc., may also be observed.

**Special Note about aged Porcelain**
If you are not accustomed to this ‘look’, google crazing and the aging process of porcelain. The Japanese use crazing to add an artistic look to their pieces whereas antiques go through the natural aging process. Crazing is cracking in the surface of the plate due to use sometimes it's even and is called the crackle look and other times it is random.

I also welcome special requests that I can keep in mind when sourcing for my shop!
