French Vintage Glazed Stoneware Foie Gras Pate Tureen jar with lid. Made by famous French manufacturer of Earthware Faience "SARREGUEMINES" France, in Terre de Fer. Decorated with a bird scenes in "Oiseau Bleu". Based on my research of the stamp, this model was probably produced in the mid 1960s as they are featuring Lions Head Handles and knob on the lid is the design of a flower.
Stamped "Sarreguemines FRANCE Oiseau Bleu decor garanti inalterable et resistant au lave-vaisselle Dishwasher Proof".
The idea of these pots was to prepare the foie gras in the oven in pots of different sizes depending on how many you are serving. In France, the paté of choice is its famous 'Foie Gras', made from goose livers. There is a little hole in the knob on the top to let the steam out. There was a time that no French kitchen would be without these pots but today if you can find them at all, they are used for storing herbs, spices and more.
PLEASE NOTE: I have 2 terrine pots in Total but this price is for 1 pot (ONE). The listing is programmed to allow you to select a quantity you wish to purchase.

Please ask me if you are unsure. PLEASE use ZOOM to review closely the detail and condition of the plates especially the photo collages.
**Special Note about aged Porcelain**
If you are not accustomed to this ‘look’, google crazing and the aging process of porcelain. The Japanese use crazing to add an artistic look to their pieces whereas antiques go through the natural aging process. Crazing is cracking in the surface of the plate due to use sometimes it's even and is called the crackle look and other times it is random.
These items are old, were used and were manufactured at a time when processes were less under control as today. Therefore, in addition to the defects identified and reported in the ad, slight dimensional differences or deviations in the color or in the decoration between the different parts could be noted. Besides, some little marks or small manufacturing imperfections such as minor defects in the glaze or in the varnish etc., may also be observed. Please take a look at photos and use zoom for detail.
