1900s ~ "PALLAS" Sarreguemines U&C ~ French Antique Ironstone Green Transferware Small Plate ~ Terre de Fer

Lovely French Antique Ironstone Green (Olive) Vintage Small Serving Plate "Assiette" in French. The model is called "PALLAS" and was made by famous French manufacturer of Earthware Faience "Sarreguemines U&Cie" France, in Terre de Fer.    Stamped « PALLAS - U & Cie Sarreguemines » Made in France.

The Faienceries Sarreguemines and Utzschneider & Cie (U&Cie) - dates back to the early 1800s when J.Faby and Paul Utzchneider took over the factories from Nicolas Jacobi. The mark was produced between the time frame of 1871 to 1913 at which time the U & Cie factories split off into 2 different factories producing other labels.

--- Condition ---

In rustic vintage condition. Due to the age there are certainly signs of usage such as some pattern bleeding/blue ink marks/fading in certain spots on the surface, slight discoloration in certain areas especially on the back edges, manufacturing marks and surface spots, some utensil marks/surface scratches, manufacturing /glazing marks on the surface, there are areas around the edges of wearing down of the protection glaze or tiny marks where there is no varnish (surface not smooth) and more detail by plate below:

Plate N 1, 2 & 6 : There is visible surface crazing but no other chips or cracks in the surface.
Plate N 3 & 5: There is no surface crazing, chips or cracks in the surface.
Plate N 4: There is no surface crazing or cracks in the surface but there is a tiny mark on the front edge of the plate that is either an aged chip or a manufacturing blemish.

**Special Note about aged Porcelain/Ironstone**
If you are not accustomed to this ‘look’, google crazing and the aging process of porcelain. The Japanese use crazing to add an artistic look to their pieces whereas antiques go through the natural aging process.

These items are old, were used and were manufactured at a time when processes were less under control as today. Therefore, in addition to the defects identified and reported in the ad, slight dimensional differences or deviations in the color or in the decoration between the different parts could be noted. Besides, some little marks or small manufacturing imperfections such as minor defects in the glaze or in the varnish etc., may also be observed.
