1880s ~ "L'Assomption LOURDES" Series DIGOIN SARREGUEMINES ~ French Antique Ironstone Collectible Talking Plate ~ Religious Themed Plates

Lovely French Antique Ironstone Decorative Collectible Talking Plate "Assiette Parlante" in French.  was made by famous French manufacturer of Earthware Terre de Fer, “Digoin & Sarreguemines” and this series is dedicated to the famous religious city Lourdes, located in the south of France, thus called "L'Assomption - LOURDES".

Each plate has an image of religious landmark in Lourdes or a historical image relating to the time frame when the apparition of the Virgin Mary became visible to a young shepherd girl, Bernadette Soubirous, in 1858.

In addition, each plate is also designed with the stations of the rosary around the border incorporates the names of the fifteen sacred mysteries:
- The Joyful Mysteries (the Annunciation, the Visitation, the Nativity, the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple, the Finding of Jesus in the Temple);
- The Sorrowful Mysteries (the Agony in the Garden, the Flagellation, the Crowning with Thorns, the Carrying of the Cross, the Crucifixion);
- The Glorious Mysteries (the Resurrection, the Ascension, Pentecost or the Descent of the Holy Spirit, the Coronation of the Virgin and the Assumption of Mary).

Each are stamped on the back of the plate with an image of the shield of Lorraine surmounted by a crown and inscribed by the manufacturer “Digoin & Sarreguemines”. It also has an embossed production mark, “6bis K36”, along with the stamped letter, “P”. This signifies that the plate was manufactured in the time period between 1850-1900.

PLEASE NOTE: I have 3 different talking plates in Total but this listing is for ONE 1 Plate. The listing is programmed to allow you to select the one you wish to purchase by plate N°. If you want more than 1 plate you have to add each one to your shopping cart. Please ask me if the shipping doesn't make sense as the Etsy system is NOT programmed in France to calculate the shipping automatically so it's a manual entry subject to error. If the shipping is not correct, I always refund overages when processing my orders.

They make a great collectors plate. You can hang it one the wall for decoration or use it with anything for serving appetizers, dessert or finger food at a dinner parties.

--- Condition ---

They are overall in good vintage condition due to the age there are certainly signs of aging and usage such as faint pattern bleeding/fading, manufacturing marks/bumps in the surface, browning in certain areas of the plates more visible on Plate 2 and 3 and there are signs of crazing on each plate as shown in the photos. Please take a look at the photos closely and use ZOOM for detail.

**Special Note about aged Porcelain**
If you are not accustomed to this ‘look’, google crazing and the aging process of porcelain. The Japanese use crazing to add an artistic look to their pieces whereas antiques go through the natural aging process. Crazing is cracking in the surface of the plate due to use sometimes it's even and is called the crackle look and other times it is random.

These items are old, were used and were manufactured at a time when processes were less under control as today. Therefore, in addition to the defects identified and reported in the ad, slight dimensional differences or deviations in the color or in the decoration between the different parts could be noted. Besides, some little marks or small manufacturing imperfections such as minor defects in the glaze or in the varnish etc., may also be observed.

I ship using Colissimo (La Poste International service) which includes tracking. minimum insurance and estimated delivery dates (which is normally faster than the processing times in my policy section).
