RARE French Antique Ironstone Blue transferware Square Plate "Assiette" in French ' Made by famous French manufacturer of Earthware (Faïence in French) "SALINS" France, in Terre de Fer, a sister company of Longchamp. Stamped "Salins" with a symbol.
Based on my research of the stamp, this model was probably produced in the late 1890s so they are more than 100 years old and they look like they have lived a full life with rich history so they tell a story. It all adds to their charm and beauty and it's hard to find square plates from this time frame which makes them more rare. So if you like the clean look or the more modern look, you would not fully appreciate these plates.
The white/ivory ceramic is decorated by blue transfer with a decorative decal in the center of the plate and around the flat edge.
PLEASE NOTE: I have 8 Plates in Total (2 flat edge hollow soup plate, 6 dinner plates & 0 small plates) but this price is for 1 ONE plate. The listing is programmed to allow you to select a quantity you wish to purchase.

In rustic vintage condition. Due to the age, there are certainly signs of age and usage such as some pattern bleeding and fading in certain spots, manufacturing marks and surface bumps/dings, marks and wear in the varnish, surface crazing (age crackle), some areas of browning and more detail by plate n# below:
Soup Plate N#1 - There are aged chips around the back edges not visible from the front of the plate when in use.
Dinner Plate N#1, 3, 4, 5 & 6 – There are areas around the back edges with aged chips not visible from the front when in use.
All Blemishes shown in the photos (refer to photo collage). Please ask me if you are unsure. Please take a look at the photos closely and use ZOOM for detail.
Special Note about aged Porcelain:
If you are not accustomed to this ‘look’, google crazing and the aging process of porcelain. The Japanese use crazing to add an artistic look to their pieces whereas antiques go through the natural aging process.
These items are old, were used and were manufactured at a time when processes were less under control as today. Therefore, in addition to the defects identified and reported in the ad, slight dimensional differences or deviations in the color or in the decoration between the different parts could be noted. Besides, some little marks or small manufacturing imperfections such as minor defects in the glaze or in the varnish etc., may also be observed.
