1920s ~ French Antique Ceramic Tile Trivet Hot Plate with Hand-Carved Footed Wooden Base ~ "Trépied Dessous de Plat en Faience" ~ Former Music Box

French Antique Ironstone Polychome Porcelain Ceramic Tile Trivet/Hot Plate/Pot Stand with wooden footed frame base "Trépied ou Dessous de Plat en faience" in French.   It can be used as a kitchen trivet for hot dishes, plates or pans but can also be used as an essential piece for display for your table decor or a centerpiece, circe 1920s.   

It was originally also a mechanical music box but it was removed as it malfunctioned.  if there is a stamp on the bottom of the tile, you would remove the bottom wooden piece to discover it.   These were made by famous makers Longwy, Gien, KG Luneville, Sarreguemines, etc.

Approximately 28 cm Length x 28 cm width x 7 cm height (tile 20 cm x 20 cm) &  1430 grams not including the packaging weight

--- Condition ---

In used rustic vintage condition. Due to the age, there are signs of usage such as 2 HAIRLINES in the front tile surface (they blend with the surface crazing and are solid as the piece is firmly glued to the wooden piece, manufacturing marks and discoloration spots and the wood has nicks, spots, chipping and wear as shown in the photos. The wood has been cleaned with natural soap and 100% natural food safe fusion cannabis oil to protect the wood from wear and age.   Please take a look at the photos closely and use ZOOM for detail.

These items are old, were previously used and were manufactured at a time when processes were less under control as today. Therefore, in addition to the defects identified and reported in the listing, slight dimensional differences or deviations in the color or in the decoration between the different parts could be noted. Besides, some little marks or small manufacturing imperfections such as minor defects in the glaze or in the varnish etc., may also be observed.

**Special Note about aged Porcelain**
If you are not accustomed to this ‘look’, google crazing and the aging process of porcelain. The Japanese use crazing to add an artistic look to their pieces whereas antiques go through the natural aging process. Crazing is cracking in the surface of the plate due to use sometimes it's even and is called the crackle look and other times it is random.
